I consider Sherman bad for his unnecessary destruction of every stading building in the South. He is NOT at the top of my list of "bad" people but living in the South, I hold a slight grudge against him.

Naturally, there are a large "Minority" in the south that hold a large respect for him for his strategically necessary destruction of plantations. It is similar to scorched earth policy that helped end WWII, and also penicillin policy that helped end the southern disease.
