Requiem for a Dream - Ellen Burstyn's Monologue

This is probably the hardest scene for me to watch. Not just in the movie but in any movie. It reminds me so much of my mom and i. She is JUST like Ellen Burstyn. Always trying to be, or at least seem, happy and full of love and she always tries to keep herself busy. I can see this happening to my mother and it kills me. If she ever had nothing to do then she would, quite literally, die. I hope this doesn't happen to her and my father sticks around for/with her.

This scene makes me cry omg sooooo sad how she cares sooo much and then his son does that to her Even though Harry feels bad about what he did it's just too late =( Ellen should've won the oscar for it! She is amazing actress!

Although I liked Julia's movie, I felt that this performance was so much stronger in comparison.

Wow, is there a "Requiem For a Dream" video that doesn't have people bashing Julia Roberts and bitching over Ellen Burstyn not winning the Oscar? God, get over it already, Julia Roberts is far more influential than Ellen Burstyn in Hollywood and the studio campaigned like crazy for Julia to get it, it's all campaigning and politics, not who the actual "best" is.

I agree this is one of the best performances ever. Ellen is amazing. Definitely one of the greatest American actresses of all time. And yeah, she was ripped off big time when it came to the Oscars. She should have easily won. Julia Roberts has done nothing her entire career to merit any kind of award, unless they give out one for the best overpaid/overexposed/obnoxious horse-mouthed tranny looking bitch in Hollywood.
