Lets compare the US president at the time time Che......Eisenhower was responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands in Guatemala, and he nearly got Che in 1954 when Che was seeking asylum out Guatemala. Fortunately, the Dulles brothers couldnt convince the police to attack the foreign embassies in the country. Che was a blood thirsty killer, but hardly on the scale of the American government at the time.

Yeah they used the same military structure until just before the spanish american war. Before we had a real foriegn war, our army was broken up into seperate federal, and state units. Each division or army was merely named after where the majority of the soldiers were rallied or conscripted from. Around 1890, staff from west point who studied european armies, switched us to the same divisional structure used by newly reunited germany, france, turkey, and england. And yeah wiki is horrible.
