I won't give you heat, but answer you. It is most likely due to that origin was hard core for it's day and age, and lot of things changed. To update the life styles we currently live in, it only made sense to make it reimagined. If that didn't make sense, then think of the saying "Original is always orginal, and carbon copy is just that." No one wants to watch something that was the same in 60 years ago, and re-imagine was the next best step.
