Fascinating! My Grans cousin was a "tail end charlie" on a Wellington and was shot down and killed over L'Orient bommbing the U Boat pens. I found his grave a couple of years back on the CWGC site and did some research.She was amazed as she thought he was MIA over Holland.Stuff like this adds a human element. Well done mate!

Now you could do a documentary on the poor bloody farmer and his family who got crushed by the thing falling on them. After all, fair is fair.

Hi WTEGog. Thanks for watching, and taking the time to comment. Is the tail in Canberra the 3C+BA one? Schnaufers biographer says it is his aircraft, but other people (the War Prizes author) apparently disagree. It would be nice to know for certain. But if it is Schnaufers, its not the same aircraft he shot down JB659 in. Im pretty sure soon after JB659 12/NJG 1 moved to Belgium, and I think Schnaufer got a new aircraft. I might be wrong.
