this is Chevrolet Spark
if lewis chevrolet would have seen what they sell under the name CHEVROLET these days, he would have turned around in his grave, GURANTEED
In poland LPG is on almost every gas stations. 1,31$ for galon. Holly Cow!!
Seen the vid, but the question still remains... Why?? Why have an LPG conversion done on a car which can already achieve 50mpg plus. Surely a false economy in the long run... There's also the question of 'where does the tank go?'. It's only a tiny car so, unless it runs ONLY on LPG, I'd fathom there is no boot-space anymore..?
Hi Video Panda, longevity of an engine that is well maintained should not be affected. Between 1990 and 1998 I had an Australian 1977 Holden Torana with a 4.2 liter V8 on LPG, and this engine completed a total of 330,000km on LPG before it was in need of replacement. LPG likes a higher operating temperature, and modern engines don't suffer. The only time they will suffer is during the warm up period, this is where most of the damage to an engine occurs. During warm up, do not drive the car hard.
I Agree.
in poland cost is about 50%-60%lower.Ofcourse if you buy it not in autodealer. For example lpg installation for skoda costs about 5000pln its about 1300euro, but u can instal an instalation in some oder autoservice and pay about 500euro or even less
Originally it was not Daewoo Matiz - I had Daewoo Matiz (look on my movies "Nasz czarny Punkt") - even Daewoo Matiz II looks different (made in germany) - This is redesigned project of Daewoo Matiz II remade by Chevrolet (Pontiac in USA) - same chasis, also some parts, different engines.
same in Poland. Chevrolet Spark.
I had Matiz I (not chevrolet, just daewoo) with LPG installation. The engine maybe was a bit louder but it also had more power. Matiz have multiple injection so it does not metter. On the road MATIZ combust up to 8 liter of LPG/100km. Now I have Opel Frontera also with LPG and it combust 14 l/100km (same is the fuel combustion.) About relibility - well the temparature of burning on LPG is higher Thats why the engine can "live" a bit shorter.
In Poland (Polen) installation of autogas cost up to 1000E - the installations have all eauropean ISO standards and of course all papers. Here in Poland about 40% of cars are already on LPG because of it's price - 0,37 eurocent per liter (E95 is about 1 Euro).
HI Mynarr, you need to listen to the video again mate, I can speak a bit of German, and had a friend who lives in Germany confirm what I thought the conversion cost was, and it is clearly stated as being €2500, and such a system would be an LPG vapour injection system. And, half the cost of the car itself (They sell in Italy for about €4990, I know because I was there 2 months ago.
Hi BTPossum, Americans are not that bright I'm afraid, and as far as I know, any engine of any size will run reliably on LPG, the only advice I offer is that you have to make damned sure that your valve seats are hardned, ie: as designed to run with unleaded petrol (gasoline for the americans). With new cars, that's no problem, nothing in Australia is built that can run on leaded fuel, and if you do have something pre 1986, then good luck finding it.
For me, it cost's about half running on LPG. The small performance decline is well worth it, and I can always switch to petrol if I want. Also, if you wan't to run an LPG-only system, you can run much higher compression ratios which will give you more power.
I've spoken to people in America who flat out don't believe my car (falcon) runs on gas. Do you find that cars with small engines have reliability issues when running on LPG? It's just something I've noticed, the larger (6 cylinder or above) don't seem to have the same probs, but I could be wrong.
Yeah cute car !! and I am proud owner. In india it is lauched as "Spark"
Just repeating what I understood from the commentry in the video, but even 400-500 Euros on that car isn't that wasted? Nice as a proof of concept, but then you can convert just about anything to LPG, the company I work for in AUstralia have several Mercedes Benz Actros trucks converted from diesel to LPG. Here in Australia they would laugh at you if you asked to convert a little Matiz to LPG. By the way, my cars cost about €200 to convert each.
2.500euro ??? converting that small shit cost over400-500euro BUT not in germany:) i dont know where they got these prizes!!!
You have to ask why??? Such a tiny car that already returns good fuel economy running on it's normal fuel petrol/gasoline at about 20km per liter (76mpg), then you spend €2,500 to convert the thing to run on LPG? that's half the value of the car itself..... you convert big engined cars to LPG, not these little pipsqueek rice burners. FYI, I own two Aussie Holden Commodores with 3.8 liter V6 engines, both on LPG... that makes more sense!
Not true, while it is cheaper and cleaner, LPG has a lower energy density than either petrol or diesel, so the equivalent fuel consumption is higher.
Originally It Was Daewoo Matiz
In mexico it's Pontiac Matiz
LPG is cheap, clean and more efficient than petrol and diesel.
It is UZBEK car
GM-DAEWOO MATIZ
