Belly landed on a grass area next to the runway at Carswell AFB, Texas. Aircraft was only slightly damaged, but never flew again. It was scheduled to appear at the Paris air show but due to the mishap the first prototype was sent.

Good subject; poor video quality. Most of the films were shot using old-fashioned equipment, sometimes over exposed and washed out, under great vibration. The film and tapes were not that good quality when I got them and over the decades age and EM has deteriorated them some, and some quality was lost digitizing the recordings.
This real thing, not Hollyweird.
Most of the montage footage I posted is available, that has been better stored and has been enhanced and edited using high-end professional equipment and a lot of time. They have done an excellent job in restoring much of the footage
The footage is in different order and has different music, however it has much of the same footage.
There is a digital preview available at the link. I am not affiliated with the web site.

I was on duty in the fire department tower the day the F-16 landed between CAFB and General Dynamics. This was one of the initial demonstration flights the Air Force had prior to giving General Dynamics the thumbs up. The test pilot had minimal fuel on board which was why he made the decision to land in the median and not wait until we foamed the runway.
That F-16 - that was a very graceful landing!
the pilot did actually survive this crash, its obscured by the wreckage but he was rather rapidly extracting himself from the remains of the jet.
I remember the B-52 with the missing Vertical Stabilizer...I was the Crew Chief! SAM to the tail, fortunately it didn't explode. Great Pilots, thought of dropping the Landing gears to keep the plane stable.....Thanks guys if your still around today, I'm glad we didn't become POW's! Besides, I was the only one without an ejection seat!
Funny how it happened over Colorado in 1964 when by your own admission of age you would have been 6. Damn youngest crew chief ever or did the SAM hit so hard it blew you into a different time and country?
Notice you never got a reply from the bs artist
what the hell? who drives a plymouth duster to the scene of an f-16 crash 2:16 lol nice ops ride!

I get a laugh out of that also. It must be a civilian contractor, uncover SP or military personal using their person vehicle.
