Here's part 15 of a complete runthrough of Quake II for the PSX finished 100%.
These are different from my original videos. They're played much better. I even cut 7 mins off of the first two hubs!
Of note, since people asked this. The music is by Sonic Mayhem. The game consists of tracks from the PC version and its expansions. Nope, don't know the track names, sorry.
Of the two ports (the other being N64) this is the surprisingly the superior of the two. Thanks to the programming geniuses at Hammerhead this game is running on a mere 2 megs of memory!
Great graphics, great sound (more music than the PC!), and still very fun. The uber-sensitive analog controls take a while to get used to however...

PC Ver. of Quake II Looks like shit. I prefer PSX version. I like these colours and flare effects (e.x. Super Blaster shoots). Especially colours, given so perfecly, dark climate - LOVE QUAKE II, but only PSX ver ^^
I love both, but I DO admit, I love the lens flares, hyperblaster effects and blue tone to the graphics (as opposed to orange on the PC), new levels, and new enemies/boss. All of which you can't get anywhere else.
There's just so much new content that it's merely not a port. Every id Software fan must check this one out.
the grenade launcher grenades look like duracell batterys :)
the graphics look kinda like software graphics dont ya think
No actually I don't think. They look as good as the OpenGL gfx on the PC version. Better in some ways with the lens flare and the coronas around the enemies when you shoot them with the laser rifle.
How they did these effects on the PSX is astounding.
Yeah, truly a wonder how Hammerhead did such a great port. :)
I actually prefer the color pallete on this one, the blues on the PSX over the oranges on the PC. It's like a darker, nighttime version of the sunny PC game. :)
this level is easy.
pieta4lifeman, u r a quitter and a baby!!
i was going through all the games for the psx and found this game and said i never passed this game so i gave it a go. it started good enough than became frustrating....... than really frustrating but still i pressed on and came to this guy after about a 100 tries i gave up turned off my psx grabed the quake 2 cd and snaped it in two.
I've beat this game for the PC on every difficulty level.
