this is very moving! congrats Tony Blair you did the labour party proud, its so sad you had to leave with out his public being able to have our say!

I REALLY do not think that he would have been voted out, were the voters asked. But he'll go down in history as never having lost an election. The Labour party must be having fits right now at their crazy decision to boot him out. He said there was one thing he hated about the Labour party - "losing". So right! Pity their memories were so short.

i'm so glad you made another part! again tony blair stood tall, fighting to the end. the man who broke all records and defied political history, simply shreded the rule book on voting patterns and held the job of PM for 10 years, he deserved that standing ovation without a doubt. i do have to mention David Cameron here - decent bloke for telling his party to stand too, he was on his feet at the same time as the labour people.

Hi scoutingcanb4girls - Yes, it says something about Blair that Cameron admires him so much and bases his own style and projection on Blair's. He will never equal the MASTER though. We KNEW exactly what Blair was about in 1997. So far, Cameron has said little or nothing about fighting international terror - possibly the greatest threat to the freedom-loving world. Blair coined "liberal interventionism" even as he hoped for "no wars in our lifetimes". Brown is proving a disaster, as I expected.

Agreed Andyc18. And nor will there be another Labour leader winning three elections in a row for a long time - if ever. I still can't get over the arrogance of the Little People in his party who stabbed their winner in the back like this. Well, looks like they're getting their just desserts now.

I backed Blair, I didn't think he deserved the criticism he got, being prime minister for 10 years was an amazing feat and I can't see it being beaten for a very long time.

Best Labour party leader of 20th century. Iraq and Bush killed him though. Without Iraq 2005 election would have been a landslide. I guess the jury's out on whether it was the right decision.

He still won in 2005 though, despite Iraq. If it had been another landslide Brown & cohorts would still have kept after him. It was personal ambition on Brown's part, not really policy issues. But with a larger majority Blair could have sacked Brown and SHOULD have. I am not convinced that Iraq was wrong. History will show. Blair, to me, is the "bravest and the best". I wasn't a Labour voter but I would be now - if he were still there!

We don't need to wait for the Jury, it was the wrong choice. I agree he didn't have a lot of choices but totally misleading the UK with evidence he knew at best was sketchy and worst was fabricated is just about unforgivable, as long as he STAYS in retirement we will leave it at that. I think Celine Dion Titanic would have been a better choice of slussy music for this video.

Odysseylive - WHY don't we need to wait for a jury? ARE YOU the judge & jury? Executioner too? You do NOT know he knew the evidence was sketchy. You choose to believe that. It suits your argument. ALL OTHER MAJOR COUNTRIES BELIEVED THE INTELLIGENCE, INCLUDING THE UN. Sorry to shout, but people like you are determined not to hear the truth, because you think you know it already. I think you are wrong, VERY wrong. And retirement? Who are you kidding? He's only just begun. Cue for a song?
