Super Sled Acer was a joke game. A friend and I had created our ultimate shooter concept - Super Space Acer, and broke it into a whole line of joke knock-offs, all with the 'SSA' abbreviation. Of those, Super Shooting Acer and Super Sled Acer were actually made. (Super Space Acer was done for the TI and Atari ST).
This one was actually written for the TI first, but I rewrote it for the PC, giving all the sprites a little more personality (ie: snowmen who sneak up on you). There were two levels beyond where I made it - tanks and missiles. ;)
Super Sled Acer has the honor of being the only one of my early games to be officially reviewed by a commercial game reviewer -- although he apparently selected it only to pick on it, and I was never notified. Sadly, the review isn't online anymore, but I do remember that since the reviewer did not contact me, he took it upon himself to invent the system requirements, making them ridiculously high (perhaps to emphasize his point).
Publicity is publicity, so I wrote and had them correct the specs back down to an XT with CGA as a minimum. ;)
This game runs in CGA too, but I didn't bother recording it as it doesn't really look any different. ;)
