C-5 Galaxy crash at Dover

see how that C5 absorbed that crash! A testament to Lockheed 'overbuilding' the design. the fuselage/hulls of the C5 and even the C-130 look like flying boat hulls but minus the 'steps'. That C5 is a well built aircraft. Wish it had been offered to the commercial airlines. Would've given the 747 a run for it's money.

There seems to be some confusion. There are actually 2 crews on 2 ICSs (the second crew was an evaluational crew). Both ICSs go to the same data recorder. There wasn't arguing, but there was pilot error and a failure to cross-monitor the crew's performance. Overall ACT failure.

You can't fly a almost fully laden C5 Galaxy on 2 engines 3 would have helped--pilot error!

You can hear that "DON'T SINK" and "TOO LOW. TERRAIN" warnings in the background shortly before they stall and crash. By the time they realize the flaps are extended too far, it's too late. They're running with two engines on a heavy aircraft with flaps fully extended and too low of an altitude. This was basically a culmination of extreme human error. There was absolutely no reason they should have crashed given the situation.

I agree with you JonnyCrash. They had a lack of SA. They should have had someone heads down and someones eyes outside.

This animation was done with actual flight recorder data after the crash. If you look closely, you can see that the number 2 engine is lost. They're in an emergency situation, but they are arguing and handling it very badly. At some point, someone extends the flaps to 90°, which further kills their airspeed. When they realize that they need to gain some airspeed to avoid crashing, they throttle the engines up all the way, but they actually throttle up the number 2 engine instead of number 3.
