mansell had won all the previous 5 races and the williams was the quickest car but there is no room for overtaking at this track exept for maybe outbraking at the nouvelle chicane coming out of the tunnel but it didnt work because senna was defending well

Senna overtook 12 cars in this very same track in just ONE race, and with an EXTREMELY inferior car compared to his contenders. So is just a matter of talent.

Yeah, but that was in the rain.

Nevertheless, he overtook them, the rain just set the cars at the same level... if it was not for the rain Senna's car could never be as fast as Prost's, Piquet's, Lauda's, Alboreto's and the others.
