how many people at the finish line end up with broke ankles? and any idea what sort of time these run

it really varies on the class. When you get into something like unlimited drag races, times can be less than a second for the quartermile. Just make sure to look around and know what your getting into before you signup a race

i take it that its a scale quarter mile though but WOW just bought an rc car thats sposed todo 70mph but building a full size car specifically for drag racing

Not at all scale. An auctial quartermile. Electric RC draggers can reach 90mph in under a second.
