Eagle Eyes

Video Title : Eagle Eyes
Description : June 28, 2006, Eagle Pass, Texas-- University of California, San Diego (UCSD) engineers will today unveil a novel wide-area, multi camera, computer-vision system for monitoring a key U.S.-Mexico border crossing between Eagle Pass, TX and Piedras Negras, Mexico. The prototype system will be used to deter and detect criminal activity and ensure smooth traffic flow around the Camino Real International Bridge which crosses the Rio Grande River and serves as a commercial thoroughfare between Texas and Mexico. The Camino Real toll bridge is managed by the City of Eagle Pass, and following a demonstration for city and state officials from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and tutorial for police officers later in the afternoon, the Eagle Pass police department will begin using the system to observe critical locations under and around the bridge. Top: Omnidirectional and pan-tilt-zoom cameras give police a wide area view of regions around and under the Camino Real bridge. Bottom: Computer interface allows police to precisely select location to be viewed and zoom in on area of interest. The video surveillance system, dubbed "Eagle Eyes" was developed by UCSD electrical and computer engineering professor Mohan Trivedi and his team of graduate students and researchers.

Why USA is controlling only who is going in to US, not when they are going out. They want to have all kind of papers from mexican so they could be sure that they are not going to work to US, so why they don't just check out going traffic to get more information behavior of visitors.

I am from Eagle Pass, Tx. I would like to see these middle eastern so called researchers an especially the white haired professor out of the United States, All my people want to do is earn a decent living and support our families that live side by side on this border town. Get out of here with your broken english pronounciations and let my people live in peace as we have done for hundreds of years. Viva Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras.

nice racism there....

shut the hell up you racist pig. they work their asses off to get here as well as when they get over here: they deserve every bit of their reward. you wanna earn a decent living? get your fat ass off of your couch and go pursue higher education and work for it, instead of spouting your liberal views of how you think you're entitled to everything. by the way, the researchers are ucsd graduate students, an AMERICAN institution... one that you or your family could never dream of getting into.

You are so wrong, you have never been to Eagle Pass, on the other hand I have been to San Diego, Carlsbad, Lajoya, oh and CAMP PENDLETON ! A TRUE MARINE ! AN AMERICAN INSTITUTION. Desert Storm and back. UT Texas Degree

Dam We have "Eagle Eyes", tall Border Patrol camera towers(with Lord knows what type of sensors),an abandoned RADAR base, and a TAR(Tethered Aerostat Radar) drifting south of town. Looks like the goverment is ready to invade our neighbor:) Perhaps the bygone residents Fort Duncan will make up the invading force:)
