I think most politicians (both democrats and republicans) care more about power and status, then money. The only reason Obama claims to care so much about the poor and lower middle class is because they make up the majority of people who vote for him, and his campaign is designed to pander to that demographic.

brett1984 actually hit the nail on the head. As much as i like Barack, he does have a lot of socialistic views on steal from the rich and give to the poor. His tax plan is to tax the hell out of the more wealthy people, which is around 3-5% and give it to the middle to poor class, no questions asked. If i was one of those wealthy people, i'd be like What the hell? So, because i did really well in college and studied and am now a wealthy person, i'm being punished by giving half my salary away.
