Here is New York, Fashion Week wrapped up on friday with the designs of Chado Ralph Rucci. Here's more:
STORY:
Rucci used to create his own textiles with his European mills, but that is no longer cost effective. So, for the Spring 2009 collection, he used mostly silk tulle and superimposed double-faced wool or silk panels onto it.
[Ralph Rucci, Designer, Chado Ralph Rucci]:
"This is a silk tulle jacket with double-faced wool crepe pieces that give you a sense of the transparency at the same time of the proportion of the double-faced wool. This, this is silk tulle that's stitched with a graduation of silk eyelash ribbons and then silk braids put over the seam to get a hard-edged line to it."
After showing his last two collections in Paris, Rucci returned to New York with his Spring 2009 collection as the featured designer for New York Fashion Week.
Meanwhile, another label Badgley Mischka celebrated its 20th anniversary at New York's Fashion week finale.(fin-AL-ee)
Co-founders Mark Badgley and James Mischka said that they wanted to make this collection weightless. To do this, they used evening wear fabrics to make daytime wear, which creates a fresh and effortless look.
[James Mischka, Designer/Co-founder, Badgley Mischka]:
"It's about a woman who, you know, loves to get dressed up, has fun all day long and we hope we can give her clothes for that."
Fashion Week takes place twice a year in New York, once for Fall collections and in September for the Spring collections for the following year.
