My "learned" gun enthuasist, the two guns you mentioned have rifling in the barrel hence
the rifle name association, percussion rifles to be exact!"Muskets" would be you matchlock, wheelock, flintlock all smoothbores................JMAN

Actually "rifled musket" is an oxymoron as muskets are generally smoothbore!

Correct, but also the Lee Enfield 1851 and Springfield 1863 were actually rifled, this rifle must be either a shortened enfield or springfield, not uncommon in those days, thus, a musket rifle :)

the correct name for the gun is actually a Rifled Musket. It's my uncle's and is an authentic time period piece. (I cant remember the exact year but its an OLD gun. My uncle is a fairly well-known military dealer. Items such as this and more can be aquired from him. Information can be sent to krollipolli to get in touch with him.
