I find it hard to believe that the US can't afford proper high-speed rail. Acela is a great transition project, but the Americans really need to go see Europe.
Or they could just ask Bombardier, they're delivering most of our rolling stock anyway...
Funny, seeing that the Acela was manufactured in Quebec by BOMBARDIER. A diesel that uses a jet engine rather than your average diesel motor. It's the first diesel to reach 150MPH just like the Acela. Still, both locomotives are great ones.

Yes but in my mind its slow average speed means I exclude it from my "train" of thought.
Well, yeah, it is kinda slow for something you would call a high speed train. I mean, Why just 125mph when it's capable of 160mph?
Two main reasons:1 ageing infustructure.2 If you look at the NEC it bends and cruves,you cant go 200 Kh/p in that.
