Synaulia at Hermitage

Video Title : Synaulia at Hermitage
Description : St.Petersburg, December 2007. Here are some photos and clips from the lecture held by Synaulia (www.soundcenter.it) at the Otium Ludens exhibition of the ancient roman frescoes of Stabiae, Naples, now hosted at the Hermitage Museum. Only two of the seven Stabiae villas have been excavated after the Vesuvius eruption of 79 d.C. These villas were the residence of the refined intellectual artists of the classic roman epoch. Their frescoes have remained intact, submerged and preserved under the ashes of the vulcano, as in nearby Pompeii. Nature and poetry are celebrated here: Goddess Flora, Leda, Melpomene, Diana, Bacchus and the Nymphs, Arianna and Dionysus, the Maenads and their skywalks. Walter Maioli, Nathalie van Ravenstein and Luce have been researaching for decades, and reproducing, the original musical instruments of the ancients, by means of studying the original iconology from the archeological finds, as well as their application and reproduction through his/herstory. At the root of the research, an in-depth study of sound as the primary element of creation. Here Nathalie demonstrates on lyra, cetra, horn, pan-flute, oblique flute, tympanum, cymbals. With Erika Rombaldoni and Cinziaelena Defendenti. Thanks to Yana Petrova for the footage.

beautiful!

Tnx Cinzia, suggestivo e interessante. Il pavimento a scacchiera mi fa pensare alla dualità e alla creazione.Gioco infinito di luci e ombre. Un abbraccio da Patrizia
