It's hilarious that the Babel fish cuases more wars since it is mostly thought that communication barriers actually lead to the same thing. Douglas is full of pure brilliance!

I just saw the film and the babel fish sequence cuts off before it gets to the part about god.
Maybe there is a director's cut version that is more complete though?
Weirdly though, the film does have a very prominent scene showing the "handkerchief religion" which is clearly meant to parody religious ceremonies, but isn't anywhere near as witty or funny as this clip.

He's not a god. cheers.

It is in the movie!
|
Right. a lot i bet!
|
i wonder how many people will get pissed off from this scene

I've never understood why some people take this scene to be anti-religous, or why it was cut from the film version.
If you actually watch/listen/read this scene it doesn't really say anything meaningful about religion or atheism at all, it's mainly a parody of philosophical and theological reasoning, of both theists and atheists.
Adams was an atheist, but it is impossible to tell from this scene what he believed. I think he was just trying to write a witty comedy with philosophical undertones.

this is possibly the most witty thing ever said.

It's brilliantly simple!

Hmm...in a clash of all invinted deities I'm going to say that a monothiest's god would win, since generally they can do anything.
