Gilby Clarke - Knockin On Heavens Door (Rowing CLub)

I`ve read slash`s book and in page 69 says one of the best guitar players he worked with is Paul Huge because he loved sucking cooks while sympathy for the devil`s sessions so the song was re-recorder for several times.

have u even read slashs book?? at no point does he say he hated playing with izzy!! he praises izzy for being the great rhythm guitarist he is god knows how many times though!! ur right though gilby was the only guy up to izzys job, gilbys great

Of course I have read Slash's book and his views/opinions of Izzy have very much mellowed over the years. As a longtime GN'R fan I have thousand of press clippings and have at least 4 examples of interviews with Slash over the years stating that he hated playing with Izzy and prefered Gilby because 'Gilby has the chops to keep up with me and manages to learn the songs in one take something which Izzy had a load of hassle with' Guitar Review Magazine - January 1993. fair enough but i dont think he hated playing with izzy, ur right about the learning new songs though apparently izzy was reluctant to learn stuff that wasnt his and that pissed slash off

As a GN'R fan if you haven't read it I really recommend a book by Paul Stenning called 'The Band That Time Forgot'. Bottom of page 138 + top of 139 there is this quote from Slash re:Gilby + Izzy. "I love recording like this. During Appetite,Lies + Illusion I had to put up with Izzy the whole time.Inever liked playing with him. It was wonderful to escape him on this record.It sounds tighter and so much cooler than anything we've done before.......

Slash continues:"I always got irritated over Izzy's way of playing. It didn't sound right.Before The Spaghetti Incident? we erased his guitar and Gilby put on a new one. It sounded perfect" If you havent read it as I say I recommend it. It's a great read and can be bought easily off Ebay or I know the author has a myspace profile where you can buy it from. :)
