The city property served as a community garden to over 350 local families who grew over 100 different species of plants. In 2003 private developers acquired the land from the city with plans to build a warehouse on the site. The farmers were evicted on June 13, 2006 and three weeks later on July 5, 2006 the farm was destroyed by bulldozers.
