Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Acer Aspire One

Video Title : Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Acer Aspire One
Description : Ubuntu 8.04.1 on Acer Aspire One. I replaced the AspireOne Linpus Lite as I cannot find the network sharing and other things. Though I must admit that Linpus Lite has the upperhand in terms of loading time, 15 secs vs. 40+ secs. But in terms of features, i'd go for ubuntu. UPDATE: 071808 Before you jump on installing the ubuntu or ubuntu netbook remix, here are the flaws: 1. no mic drivers 2. suspend mode not working 3. default ubuntu wifi driver don't work. you need to use madwifi drivers, which is not really easy to install for casual pc users. 4. 40+ sec boot-up time Anyway, after considering all of these flaws against the loading time of Linpus, which you can now enable advance settings(or the actual settings) via a simple option, i reverted to the original Acer linpus lite. I have tested an XP on Aspire One too. here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD7updNzKgQ

Sorry, the wingglider video response was not ment to be! Can't I remove it?

i tried different things -windows xp : sucks, gaming is ok -ubuntu: its very nice -linpus: sucks harder than windows xp -eeebuntu: cool but wifi-usb won't work future test : kubuntu 8.10 it looks great and i think the wifi etc is going to be perfect just like ubuntu ^^

- ubuntu is nice after all the tweaks you need to do and there are things not working 100% (mic, hibernate, sd on reinsert). boot up time is the same as xp (45 to 60sec). kubuntu is the same. waiting for ibex release - xp is power hungry (2hours batt), need to remove excessive disk usage settings but i need it currently to run dreamweaver and flash, and visual studio. boots up in 60sec plus -linpus is limited but is just enough for a netbook. batt life is around 3hrs and bootup is 20-30sec.

kubuntu 8.10 irritates me, wifi and usb works but the interface isn't handy, ubuntu is certainly the best, im going to install the ubuntu 8.10 beta ;)

i was thinking about buying one within this month now that ibex came out. or i might just install openSuse 11. these will i think the best 400 i will spend plus its really small.

tried mac os x 10.4 or later yet?

nah, i havn't got the mac osx :/ But i won't windows xp back, just for gaming linux is ok but windows easy to opperate

have you selected mic boost +20 option in alsamixer?

you no i have and aspire one and i tink the linpus is just fine i dont realy see the point of installing ubuntu its just a waist os spae and a waist of time the limpus versioun is just fine.

agree. i'm just used with ubuntu that's why i tried it out and fedora is quite new to me that time. anyway, netbooks are just netbooks so linpus is quite enough.
