Hey gstang9,what does an average Miner get payed per Hr. these days?I just watched a Documentary Film called Harlan County USA.I was wondering what Miners were payed now for what you all do?

I love the song!!!! And the video!!! My ancestors came from Harlan county, names are Blanton,Vaughn,Helton,Brock. Thanks for the memories.

To you coal miners and coal miner family I want you to know that there is someone all the way out in California that took notice when he was 10 years old in 1976 when he say a book on the hills of kentucky and the coal minors and there lives and what they suffered with. It never left me and holds steady in my thoughts often. You all have alot to be proud about and I take my hat off to you all. Words can not come close enough to say thank you. May your men come home to their families.

There were no pictures of men who crawl in the mines. Imagine being under a dining room table, now think of it shorter. Think of a man crawling in the mine and getting his back cut from the rock on the TOP of the mine. Then imagine crawling on your belly with the top just above your head. Imagine propping up wood to keep the top off a miner. Some use a roof bolter but the wood is used too, and the operators want the coal out, no matter what. When u turn on a light, thank a coal miner.

This is an awesome tribute to the coalminer. My family have been coalminers for generations. I lost my daddy in April of this year and this brings back memories. My daddy moved us to Black Mountain when I was a baby to follow in his dad's foot steps.
