They absolutely DO NOT MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USED TO. First off, thanks for this video. Been in a B-17, but never one that took off. As I stated, they just don't make them like they used to. I know that the craft has probably had sections rebuilt and hundreds and hundreds of hours of maintenance done on the engines over the years, but I still can't help but realize the immense power they still put out after all these years. There's just one heck of a romanticism with the sound of those engines.

sweet video ive seen B-17s fly at airshows but ive never rode in one and this shows me what its like. how much does it cost to buy it and matain it though?

Thanks for this vid. I dreamed of being in a B-17 years ago. I've never seen an in-plane flight except on "Air Power". lol

Looks like an Air Force -60 type power gen set for starting.
I was ground crew on F4 and F15's (Europe) Soesteburg AFB. Nl.
F4's used a power gen to start
F15's did not require them.

And a B-17 could shut 2 engines off and still fly. =P
Nice video, keep her flying!

were do they get the parts and the know how to keep these aircraft in the air ,, im sure you can,t go to your local autozone and buy a rebuilt carb for that thing
|
They get the parts specially from a company, these are owned by several people who maintain them worldwide mostly museums...cost tons of money to keep them in the air but they are well worth it!

Great footage. Captures the experience!
