There are always seagulls near an attack close to land. If you ever sea the sardine runs in South Africa you will see whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, and birds all feeding from the same bait ball, even working together to drive the food to the surface. Seagulls will in my experience eat damn near anything, I tossed a bottle cap from the deck into a trash can about 5 feet away and had a seagull grab it in mid air. Fortunately he spit it right out... but I have seen them try and eat stranger.

absolutely ... and you will probably tell us three boats or more were there by mere coincidence ! incidentally, could you tell us why some "naturally fed" sea animals such as murenas in the red sea have cholesterol ? there is absolutely nothing reasonable in modifying the way wildlife works.
