Spike Competition Finals - Kelowna 2006

well, it is nice. But totally useless in da game! Because of block, because of touching net and because of everything! It is just for fun! You can´t say that a winner is good spiker! You have to show your skills in passing and clever thinking on the court not just how strong are you!

This looks like a weak competition. In 2002 Chris Kennedy put the ball over the second floor obvservation area and the Fred Winters video is on youtube for everyone to look at. Oh, and I'm pretty sure both those guys were playing for medals too.

Yea maybe they did, but I betcha that they played a real province like Alberta in the finals and won by TOTAL luck.

well, i was at this tournament coaching and i can definately say that these guys aren't near the best hitters at all. i saw all of the best hitters in the tournament and none of them even went in the competition. bascially this whole thing was a joke

of course these arent the best hitters. the best hitters were in the finals/ bronze medal matches. it would be stupid to put them in a hitting comp where they could throw out their shoulders. the winner was in grade 11. dont dis that. it is still impressive hitting. as a coach i'd think you could realize this and show some respect but obviously not.. well done coach

well, thanks for pointing out the obvious. but i meant no disrespect to the fellas in the competition, in fact a few of them were good hitters. i just meant it in relation to what the competition could have been. there we some amazing hitters there and not all of the best hitter were in the finals, just so you know. i also have alot of respect for the guy who won, considering he was also in gr. 11 at the time he was one of the better hitters.

I can think of one who wasn't in the finals/bronze medal games that could have done better. Please tell me who else..

Man Volleyball has definitely gone downhill. I graduate a year before and was at the 2005 competition. This is just sad. At least with my year people were getting to the wall and even making it to the Great Balls Of Fire
