i drank some homemade sun stilled water. it only tasted funny cause it was warm. but i put it in the refrigerator then it tasted like normal water

Most solar stills I've seen use a big glass like an old patio door installed at a tilt with a catch on the bottom over air tight tank with a black bottom and a float valve to maintain water level. I think they make about 2 gallons a day. I wouldn't try to use polluted water with toxins, some of which will get distilled right along with the water. I saw an array like that used for desalination.

Awesome videos. I distill, so I had to see this video ;p. Definitely, a few things would help. Stainless or ceramic boiler instead of glass. Cooling on your copper pipe to recondense more of the steam, and a "thumper" (intermediate container) would ensure no boil-overs from your dirty liquid into your clean. Keep it up and thanks for your videos! I'm going to try and create a solar still because of this! ;p

Hi, sounds like you have some great ideas. when you make your solar still could you show us your modifications and walk us through it? I'm new to this and really like the idea especially the part about having a thumper. also, what type of still do you use presently? could you put up a vid of that?
