I buy some, and the others are either samples, decants from perfume friends, or bottles that perfume companies send me.
do you buy ALL of these perfumes or just sample them?
Ha-ha - loved hearing from you! "Weird in a good way" almost describes some of my favorite perfumes! It makes me happy to know that my fume-talk has sparked your curiosity about all the fragrances out there. There's so many smell-adventures to go on!
Im not a girl that knows a lot about perfumes.I just go to the mall and buy the Ed Hardy in the pink container and call it a day. But now that im watching your videos, i kinda want to go sniff... but not like that. lolz You should tell me what you think about the Ed Hardy one, if you havent done a video on it yet, I love it and i would like to hear what you have to say on it. You're kinda weird, but in such a good way, I absolutely love it. I subscribed to you after seeing one video.
how 'bout montale black aoud? just searching...
there are faves that never die but its always good to try new things. thanks, i will get a sample of it.
Thanks for digging my scene! I've popped Black Orchid onto the "to do" list.
I know you've put your quest to rest for now, but may I suggest just one more masculine floral that I left out of the bouquet? Eau d'Italie Paestum Rose. I just retried that the other day, and it's a dry, spicy rose and incense. Scent critic Chandler Burr was rhapsodizing over that one, recently.
Please please please do a video review of Black Orchid :) Love your videos! Thanks for the subscription suggestion!
Oooh! Dior Bois d'Argent! I love that one, and you mentioning it has inspired me to do a review of it. Thanks for your brainwaves. Doh! I'm annoyed that I missed Ayala Moriel's event. Didn't think it would still be on for so long. And I missed truffles, too? Noooooooooo... Thanks for cluing me in on Bluna's fab fragrance events. And let me know if you hear about anything else of perfume interest in the area.
Haha, the nerve of YouTube, limiting our volubility! Yes, wasn't that a serendipitous meeting yesterday? And do you know, you're the very first person to ever recognize me from KP Smells, so that was exciting (for me - less so for you, I imagine). Santa Maria Novella is a gorgeous little treasure indeed. Thanks for sharing your fave frags with me. Meet you after your next comment....
I love White Patchouli and I "get" patchouli from it, certainly more than in Dior Bois d'Argent (which I also love). I went by the Blunda's event afterwards and it was still going on after 4 hours. I thought about calling the store to have them tell you, mais ce cerait un faux pas bien recherché, n'est-ce pas? Ayala had a huge range of samples. Also being served were floral teas and floral infused truffles. I especially enjoyed her spicy carnation soliflore. (end of part 2)
Hello Katie, it was nice to meet you at Santa Maria Novella. It's a great house to "review"/talk about - there's a lot you can say! It's also pretty difficult to get your hands on a sample. Whatever you tell them, people will likely have to believe! Also the store itself is such a little treasure, as are each of the staff. It's certainly one of the loveliest experiences to be had for a fragrance lover in LA just to poke around in there. how dare they limit comment length (end of pt 1)
Wow, that was quick! I'm so pleased to hear your take on these! It sounds like you've enough masculine florals to keep you happy for a while. I'm actually working on my reviews of Liaisons Dangereuses and Amouage Lyric for Men right now. Hope to get them up before too long. There's a new (actually re-issued) Czech Speake one just out called "Dark Rose", rose and oud wood. It's only in the UK, so I haven't smelled it yet. You might have to check it out at some point.
my winners: Kilian's Liasons Dangereuses which first reminded me of molasses? then peach, but is actually more complex and "mysterious" than my little description. Amouage Lyric for men which, to my relief, is rose done right for me,complex but damn expensive. soon..... and finally, my bottle worthy, gf approved floral masculine for spring /all year: Czech and Speake # 88. oh man.bold, little spicy, roses and flowery with just the right.... a new staple for me. Thank You. x 10
i'm usually patient but not as much with samples. always hoping for that standout. can't wait either!
Ooh, just thought of more ways to spend your floral masculine money: Le Labo Rose 31, Montale Aoud Damascus, The Different Company Osthmanthus. I can't wait to hear what your findings are!
lol, i checked my e-mail right after i ordered 60 bucks worth of samples of your suggestions. :p next paycheck. florals for a straight guy is hard to find. thanks.
Oh, I just remembered another great one: Keiko Mecheri Oliban, an incense rose. Try that one if you get a chance!
I know what you mean about Habit Rouge. I actually hesitated before including it on the "definitively masculine" list, because it's really not masculine at all, despite being marketed as such. It's one of my new favorites, though, and I wear it and love it, and wanted to spread the joy. Thank you so much for your nice tribute! "Poetic", even!
i'm waiting for samples on a couple of these. ooh, i love guerlain habit but it kinda pushes the feminine envelope for me. theres habit rouge sport coming out soon. you should critique or rave about that. i'll give your suggestions a shot. great job on the vids btw. classy, poetic and clever.
Have I got a list for you! Try Aveda Yatra, a rose patchouli, and Ancient Attar: rose, neroli, sandalwood. Then there's Tom Ford Black Orchid, Fresh Cannabis Rose, Comme des Garçons 3 and Carnation, Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Man, Hanae Mori for Men, By Kilian Liaisons Dangereuses, Guerlain Habit Rouge, Czech Speake No. 88, Amouage Lyric for Men, Jil Sander Scent 79 and despite the girly name and bottle, Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely. And that's just the tip of the flower-power-for-men iceberg!
i havent come across a perfume with patchouli in the name to actually smell like it has patchouli in it.maybe it's me.ive only noticed the scent on colognes but none of them i liked. oh well. anywho, know any definitively masculine florals?
Yay can't wait.
More niche on the way...I need to "feed the beast" with you niche-cravers....
