Corn snakes mating

My corn snake (not sure which one) had its first batch of eggs which unfortanatly didn't make it. Did you have to seperate them first to get them to mate?

would i be able to breed a rat snake and a corn snake and if so what would i get

You can either force the male's "internal testicles" out of the cloaca or use a probe. It's not readily apparent, but generally females have longer "tails" (the length of their body from the cloaca to the tip).

but won't it hurt it?

It doesn't hurt if you do it right. But if you don't know what you're doing it's much better if you get someone else to do check the sex for you.

You know, it actually kinda is. That's the way it is with most animal species. You know why cats have barbed penises and dogs have a knot that attaches them to their female counterparts? Because aside from humans, some primates, dolphins, and a few other species, animals do not enjoy sex. There's even a beetle which has a spiked penis and literally stabs the female in a random place, hopes it impregnates her, and dies. Fun stuff.
