Many years ago when I was working at the ABC Badura-Skoda needed a desk at which he could study some Bach scores, so for the best part of a week he sat in my small office sharing my desk - me one side, he on the other, just an arm's length apart. He was the most delightful person. He signed a biography of Brahms for me "as a souvenir". He was humble, gracious and kind. I doubt he'd remember it - but I certainly do with great pleasure.
