Elephant abuse under the big top at Ringling Brothers circus

I feel so ashamed to have gone to their show. For a few minutes of entertainment they are treating these Amazing majestic animals so badly.

this to me, is equivilent to keeping slaves. Just because animals cannot verbalize does not mean that they like this kind of treatment. We take elephants from thier families in the wild and use them for our entertainment. Its...just...WRONG

wow. pasionate opinions back and forth. Thats what they are opinions and everone has a right to one. But what I dont understand is what is the difference between a trained dog or any other trained animal for that matter. As long as they are loved by their owners and they are healthy thats all that matters. There is nothing wrong w/ being passionate about your opinions but is it really nessesary to be mean when voicing those opinions?

I sincerely believe that many of the statements are not 100% truthful. I have been behind the scenes at Ringling Bros for countless hours as a security guard for an arena and have never witnessed any abuse. The animals get much better care than I expected.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who are still clueless enough to go to circuses where they use our fellow animals to perform silly, degrading, unnatural stunts for mindless twits, and those of us who would like nothing better than to see all nonhuman animals released from circuses to rescue and conservation centers, and laws passed banning their use in any form of 'entertainment'. Please SPREAD THE WORD; tell everyone you know how cruel circuses are to with animals. Don't go!

I was a teacher for the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus and would not have stayed if I had ever seen any signs of abuse. I saw the opposite. All of the animals were very well cared for and never in chains or beaten. I think PETA people are probably good, well intentioned people, but will never be happy until the day when animals are never eaten or used in any way by people: that's part of their extreme policy. Ringling Brothers is full of it. We don't understand? Those abusive trainers are professionals? It's just a dull guide? Where knowledge ends, abuse begins. I'd like to see these ignorant people out of business.
