the germans called it flying woodshoe (fliegender Holzschuh)...cause of its clumsy shape...the Diesel engines...yeah nice idea...anyhow...it would have been better if it was a passenger plane serving transatlantic routes...now its attached to the Nazi regime...like other great designs

who knows, maybe we will see it in a few years, i mean the do 28 also served in ww2 and has made its return. also a beautiful piece of engineering, it was in already was in my town a few times.

Sorry, I dont can follow concerning the Do 28 Skyservant as a WW2 plane. The Do 24 as a flying boat..now fitted with three turboprops...yes..the Do 28 is a small STOL transport plane which was designed out of the Do 27. The Do 28 was operated by the Luftwaffe and the Marine as VIP Transporter, Polution-patrol aircraft and commuter-purposes. I think you mean the Do 24 ATT now operating under Philipines colors and flags

sorry! of course i was talking about the do 24.
|
Hey no problem..but You are right.History has shown that old ideas are sometimes returning and get succesful without talking about political regimes which were prevailing during its times..so maybe we will learn to know our technology approvement without the insanity present to that times. Not only Germany did insanity..times were grazy..Germany at that time started the war..yes..but it was more then evident for the allied Europe..and they made it happen Yeah let them start,so we can defeat them

Nope the diesel-idea was abselutely brilliant..
Imagene how many of their bombers crews that would have made it back if the ran on self sealing fueltanks with diesel instead of higly flameble petrol..
You can shoot at a dieseltank with a machinegun and nothing happens.A Tankership loaded with petrol could be sunk with AA fire.
I think not exploiting the flying diesel is one of historys biggest military blunders. And civillian for that sake. More passengers could be saved
|
Note: Rocket assisted takeoff.

Love this plane..
Its form and shape, flying boat capabillity.
Especially the diesel feature was genious..
Imagine flying across the Atlantic, running on fuel... land next to a fishingboat and borrow a cup of diesel...
Some was stationed in Denmark during the war..The danes used to nickname it Anders And (Donald Duck)because of its shape and weird noise from the diesels...
I WANT ONE!! Brilliant plane!!!

Rule #1 for starting wars....try not to fight everybody at once. Hitler ignored this basic tenet.
