very cool video!

I liked the video, the minimalism enhances the effect of the brilliant song quite well, the way it ambiguously turned mundane things like stretching and lighting a cigarette into praying and suicide was done superbly.

I find Wait's version is so creepy that I wouldn't watch it after dark. Seriously, it could give you nightmares. I must say, the man's a great writer, even if this is the only thing he ever wrote.

Umm...Waits didn't write the Mercy Seat-Nick Cave did, and I didn't know he'd ever played it either?!? But he's certainly a great writer, they all are.

You're absolutely right, I meant Nick Cave! But I suspect that subliminally I had the unperformed Waits version going through my head. That WOULD be something! My favourite Waits song ever was dust on the ground.

Do you mean Dirt in the Ground? A great song definitely, right now my favourite Cold Cold Ground from Frank's Wild Years-particularly the Bridge School Benefit version with the Kronos Quartet (on youtube, and in my favourites if you're lazy)
