I think its because the EEG electrodes track the alpha and beta signals that are involved with movements. I think that in theory with mental practice it would be possible to have it lift without actually moving your arms.

You people have to realise that this isn't meant for full-on gaming or anything. For the time being, it's basically just used for simple tasks like controlling a mouse on your computer. Not sniping some guy 500 feet away while he's running.

I don't know if its the software side of things or not but the response time seems to be incredibly slow.

If you don't think about it hard enough, I don't think the headset picks it up is why.
Which is why he moves his actual body, because he can't initiate the direct movement process with good enough concentration.
