why did Thorpe quit?? it would've been great to see him challenge Phelps.

He did challenge Phelps; or, rather, Phelps challenged Thorpe (since Thorpe was already the best, and Phelps was new). They raced in Athens in the 200m Free, and Thorpe beat the pants off him.

he had chest infections and one of his medications happens to be one of the prohibited drugs of sports.. another reason is that he wants to try out something new, he feels he has already achieved enuf in swimming
