I guess, it had turned not the war, but the tides of the u-boat-war surely. Somewhere i read, a british commander of a hunter-killer group said when he first saw a XXI after the war, that it would had turned out as "a fight of some little monkeys" (the hunter-killer destroyers) "against an anaconda in the water" (the XXI). The XXI influenced the submarine-developement for decades after the war. All nations copied the revolitionary XXI-design.

Only time I used the rear tubes is on destoryers that are chasing me coming from astern. I sunk one destoryer that charged me head on and launched Tube 1 one meter below the keel head on and took him out "U571" style. But the stern tubes are more of a problem than the bow since you dont get to use them as much

I always use the stern tubes. As you say, good for sneak attacks on destroyers, if you don't sink him, you can get away!

I love getting them to take a beeline straight towards you as you dive. Makes a good shot with the rear tubes. xD
