Mao ze dong only ever fought really the korean war if you dont count the Japanese invasion because when North Korea was beginning to loose (North Koreans still fought very hard and almost won until surprise attack at Incheon) China said South Korea can attack North Korea but UN cant cross over in worry of an invasion of china. So basically Mao was more trying to keep UN from coming to China than he was there for North Korea.

There is actually no proof of poor weather conditions around the time of the Great Leap Forward it was merely one of the many reasons given for the failure. Mao's thirst for world domination and his quest to get his hands on a nuclear weapon were the main reasons for his expeditement of production most of which he shipped to Russia in exchange for information on how to build a bomb.

actually mex, mao did not want nuclear weapons. if you see the time when kruschev met mao, mao specifically said if he went to a nuclear war with the us he would not support him which was the downfall of china and the soviet union.
