Paula Lucas lived in the Middle East, where she suffered horrible abuse by her husband. After escaping with her children back to the United States, she realized that no programs existed to assist American citizens wishing to repatriate, particularly women leaving abusive marriages overseas. Starting over in the United States with nothing, Paula established the American Domestic Violence Crisis Line to help American women abroad who are trapped in abusive relationships. This short film by fbi productions, profiling her story, premiered at the Third Annual Volvo for life Awards ceremony in New York in April, 2005.
