Actually, Kingandhorse, Grievous was made a cyborg after he was mortally wounded in a shuttle crash planned by Dooku.

Look it up on Wookiepedia, theres a whole bunch of stuff bout his origins and stuff. An ye, he did used to have a full body, but got crushed and created into a cyborg body. And he hated being considered a droid and stuff

Grievous had a face and a body once but i think it was Mace-window "sorry i dunno how the heck his name is spelled xD" in accident used the force to hold some iron baricades stuff up but then it fell down right onto him and his body was crushed, his crushed body was found by the sith lord i think it was and then his remains "brain lungs hearth" etc got implanted into the cyborg body.
