this summer is the 75th anniversary of the p-40's production they were made in buffalo ny. I am going to an air show where there is going to be a lot of p-40's I can't wait

This plane's record and abilities always seems to be overshadowed by the Mustangs, Hellcats, Spitfires and Corsairs. Undoubtedly one of the best fighters built.

The fact that she was flown very successfully by the Checkered Tails in Italy with huge wins over the Bf-109 helps matters as well. Or that the Tuskogee airmen flew her before getting the P-51s. The lopsided victories by the smaller Flying Tiger unit against the Japanese airmen. All account for an impressive record.
