Description :	Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds was originally formed in 1984 by two former members of the Australian band The Birthday Party: Nick Cave (vocals, songwriter, keyboards, harmonica) and multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey. They were joined by Einstürzende Neubauten member Blixa Bargeld (guitar), Hugo Race (guitar), and former Magazine member Barry Adamson (bass, piano). With this line-up, the band recorded and released their debut album, From Her to Eternity (1984). The group has been through many personnel changes, with Cave and Harvey remaining the constants. During their initial Australian tour, Birthday Party bass guitarist Tracy Pew also performed with the band.

Dunno if you saw any of the BBC4 session last week...in interview he said he's got the same pre-occupations in song writing that he's always had...this ain't too far away from The Birthday Party stuff lyric wise! Anyways, it's all good...cheers :)

Cave's version is the most believable..

It's such a powerful song. I love it.

Cash version is interesting but cannot even be compared with the the original, this is powerful! Nick is genious.

i really like all of the Johnny Cash cover version of the american records, but the mercy seed original version from Nick cave is still the best
