i fucking hate you, purple dots
SKILL ...TALENT..2 words i wouldnt apply to TOM..LOL....the man that REALLY turned YSL..into BRILLIANCE...for the 21st century...is HEDI SLIMANE...but again..thats when you deal with ALLURE..another word i wouldnt apply to TOM....you have to know the difference...
TOM designed for both you do know that...theres footage of YSL designing HC on you tube..i am well aware of that..YSL..is for WOMEN..not video vixens or actresses who have NO TASTE and are styled by someone....which is now the subtext of HC..along with selling perfumes and accessories...thats ADVERTISING...not FASHION..you have to know the difference...
As for Tom's clothes, good advertising DID NOT make the clothes look flattering or appealing whether it was on the runway or on the customer. Advertising gets people into the store, it doesn't get them to buy the clothes though. He brought YSL ready to wear into the 21st century when it had been stagnant for years. You can downplay his skill or talent all you want, but the fact is that when he arrived at YSL press, buyers and customers alike, took notice and YSL Rive Gauche MATTERED again.
It was GUCCI GROUP that did and still does own YSL. Get your facts straight. YSL WAS still interested in designing for the Haute Couture collection which was never sold with the rest of the company and remained open for two years after Gucci bought the label. And I beg to differ with you, YSL's clothes WERE in fact passe for the latter part of his career when he stopped being revolutionary or creative. He REFUSED to change with the times, which was why he decided to retire in 2002.
when PIERRE sold the company YSL ..was no longer interested in designing for it thats the QUOTE GLADYS used in her illustration...YOU SOLD THE COMPANY...YOU DESIGN THE COLLECTION...his clothes were NEVER PASSE ..LVMH spent BIG ADVERTISING DOLLARS to make TOMS WORK look HOT..THATS ADVERTISING...not FASHION...you have to know the difference..
Like I said, Yves liked Tom UNTIL he saw that Tom intended to do things his way. Then he abruptly changed his mind. Yves, for all of his genius, was something of a delicate ego. And for all of the refinement in his clothes, they were largely irrelevant from the late 1980's on and didn't change for a good 15 years. When Tom took over, suddenly the Rive Gauche collection was getting a lot of attention again. Don't you think that MAY have influenced how Yves felt about Ford, even a little bit?
ahh..BUT IN A WWD article ..TOM was complaining that at the party announcing that he was to start designing for the label...YSL...did not attend.....or return his calls...YSL attended a party with CATHERINE...this was also SENT UP by an illustration by GLADYS PALMER...once PIERRE SOLD IT...YSL retired to his house in AFRICA..
Again, I think you need to check your facts. Yves LIKED Tom up until he and Berge saw that Tom was going to do his own thing at YSL. In a 2000 article Cathy Horyn of the New York Times quoted Yves as saying that Ford was dynamic, which he liked very much. No, Tom's stuff wasn't elegant, but his ideal wasn't one of perfect elegance. Once Yves stepped down from RTW it was up to whomever took the position to interpret the YSL legacy in THEIR OWN WAY, which is exactly what Tom did.
I AM SURE ...BUT....lets just say that TOM..wasnt on YSLs MIND FOR THE JOB..ON ANY LEVEL..NOR WOULD YSL BE SEEN WITH HIM..which TOM...HAS YET TO GET OVER...last week i saw the YSL EXHIBIT here in SAN FRANCISCO....the kind of ELEGANT REFINED DECADENCE that YSL SERVED WOMEN..TOM couldnt approach...on ANY LEVEL...
I'm not sure what you're talking about since, after Gucci Group acquired YSL ready to wear in either 1999 or 2000, Yves had no say in what would happen to it. And Yves' own choice to succeed him in the RTW collection was Alber Elbaz, who served as the designer of Rive Gauche for a year and a half before Gucci took over and Tom Ford become creative director of the brand. As for Gaultier, he already has his own house well before YSL retired from RTW.
Hay DiegoBoy .. check your accent
as a man i have to say that tom ford is sooooooooooooooo cute, but his bf is almost in the other side.. i mean he is almost dead hahhah
Am so feelin sexy now! fastsexfinder (dot) com
LOL..tell me how you REALLY FEEL...lol..TOM isnt about being or looking RESPECTFUL...or anything like CHIC...ELEGANT ...SIMMERING...hes about LOOK AT ME...I AM FLAUNTING MY BODY...ARENT I SEXY..HOT..smile..he has no idea about ALLURE...none..he does what he knows how to do..smile..be provocative to sell perfume and scarves and shoes...
Well I think he is disgusting, this look works for prostitutes in NYC, but not for respectable woman in Paris...
Ford had ravaged the brand, thank God we have Stefano Pilati to help... He is the saviour....
He's a pig, Yves would have never agreed with how he destroyed this brand, thank god Pilati is doing a better job, what a tacky loser, no wonder Gucci and YSL fired him
I agree.... there is a difference between being sensual and being vulgar.
the models migh as well walk down that runway naked
I HATE IT! Errgh! Stefano Pilati is doing a brilliant job. He is a genius, well taught. The fashion show with the black wigs is too much. This collection was horrible
i do not think he is disgusting..i just do not see him as anything but ...a STYLIST at BEST..he just isnt a fashion designer on ANY level...
Of course, I was talkin about that most people called to Tom Ford a revolutinary when YSL made it before but ultra chic, Tom Ford is anything but disgusting :)
YSL ..SERVED WOMEN..he gave them MYSTERY and POWER with FAULTLESS TECHNIQUE...he WORSHIPED THEM...and they in turn IDOLIZED HIM..he gave them what they NEEDED...he put them in CONTROL...TOM is just trying to be provocative to generate heat for the 2 houses ..he has no desire or ABILITY to really address the TRUE NEEDS...OF WOMEN..
