Mr. Rudd Be Thankful To Mrs. Thatcher - Part 2 of 3

Video Title : Mr. Rudd Be Thankful To Mrs. Thatcher - Part 2 of 3
Description : Well here is a another one from the archives. This Three Part review of Margaret Thatcher's Ten Years As Tory Leader ( PM from May 1979 til November 1990 ) was broadcast on SBS TV Australia just after John Howard became Liberal Leader for the first time in September 1985 { apologies for the slight video & audio tracking problem in the first few seconds as the footage came directly from a tape nearly 22 years old .} The then SBS Dateline Presenter is Paul Murphy & the footage is from The BBC's Newsnight program segment "Thatcher A Decade" narrated by the highly respected Sir John Tusa, I remember chatting to him when he was Top Man at The World Service on one of their " phone ins ". For the punters out there in You Tube Land that wish to see Parts Two & Three, I have edited into Part Two at the conclusion of Sir John's narration a grab from The UK Channel 4 Doco on climate change " The Great Global Warming Swindle " TX date : 08/03/2007 ( Yes I have the full 76 minute original, not the transmitted shortened effort on ABC TV Australia back in July, to be fair to Aunty a few chaps featured in the original were none too pleased about the way they were portrayed. ) The reason I have included this grab is to show the irony of one of Mr.Rudd's & indeed the modern Western World's view on climate change & the irony is ; that Baroness Thatcher was a geneses for this view, regarding The IPCC etc., although it was a means to an end, as you will see. I fancy Mr.Rudd would hold a torch to certain Thatcherite views though, but not her proclamation : "....that there is no such thing as society." Apparently ? This line comes from Mr.Rudd's maiden speech to Parliament on Dismissal & Remembrance Day 1998. Link : - http://www.aph.gov.au/house/members/firstspeech.asp?id=83T The full text of Margaret Thatcher's comments regarding the above were : - "Too many people have been given to understand that if they have a problem, it's the government's job to cope with it ... They're casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves and then, also, to look after our neighbour. People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations. There's no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation." One hopes that Kevin won't raid the Treasury too harshly, just remember that if he does make it to The Lodge....everything should be in moderation, it will be fascinating too see if he can control those in The ALP & Union Movement that want a return to Whitlamite policies & alike ? In Part Three Paul Murphy talks to the then new Liberal Leader John Howard, followed by an analysis of the The Liberals New Man by ex Seven Network Australia Gent Etc., Dennis Grant who chats to Mungo MacCallum, according to a net search by myself is a writer for The Byron Shire Echo these days amongst other pursuits. Footnote : I see from a fellow You Tuber that "Old Jelly Back" is stirring the pot in the current Member for Bennelong's seat, reckon it is a bit rich for Mr.Hawke to make such comments on the hustings to curry support from ethnic minorities ( even though his historical recollections concerning said members of The Coalition are correct, his assertions regarding The ALP are most definitely FALSE ! Remember Billy Hughes, Bob ? There are many links to exemplify this, here is one from The ABC : http://www.abc.net.au/100years/EP2_1.htm ) as a look around Mr.Howard's electorate would show how diverse things have become under the The Howard Government's Watch & not anyone else's, of late ! How wrong could Healey be?

Er.. not wrong at all. Sounds like one of his least controversial comments, quite frankly.

Check out the ugly spotty gimp at 05:51

What a web of intrigue you aspire to weave & to catch as many people in your web ! Firstly who, or what is " m15 " Secondly where is "loindon" Thirdly do you really think you know about true & practical protocols concerning the chain of command in The UK ? Fourthly, what is "pt1-5" ? & where is "Daniel Obersheki's" recording & where did you hear it ? I think it's time for you to GO TO SLEEP & sort out your spelling, grammar & paranoia !

Here Here !

If you don't know what MI5 is, your a moron.

I believe he means MI6, the British secret spy agency. Equal to ASIO or the CIA.

You have a fair & true grasp of history.

Interesting to see how wrong Denis Healey was on economic matters. His stewardship of the economy in the 70s was a miserable failure, failing to attract investment and encouraging uncompetitive industry. In the wake of the Thatcherite reforms the British economy has flourished once more, resulting in a quarter century of strong growth from 1982-2007 (save for the blip of 91-92). Japan and Germany in the meantime have endured economic stagnation.
