I flew B-52G's for 7 years, Desert Storm: 20 combat missions, dropped 820,000 lbs of bombs. The old girl still does her job!!!!

The b-52 rocks so much better then the russain tu-95 bear which came out near the same time as the b-52 however the tu-95 looks like it came out of ww2
ask any vietnam vet about B-52 arc light strikes...they would light up the skies and shake the ground for miles around...the B-52 was used in ending the seige at Khe Sahn...a daring FO called in B-52 strikes closer than any ever attempted before

Best damn airplane in the USAF inventory.
they age like a fine wine
Still very old airplane. Why USAF doesn't to build new heavy bomber to replace B-52. They bullshit it.
It may be old but it is still a capable aircraft. A testament to good design.
just like the c-130. :)
cuttingwoodnow's reply, same thing with the C-130 Hercules, they keep the original design because they like it an improve the electronics..
Because it has all the capabilities that are required in todays environment, long range and long loiter time. Replacing it would be incredible expensive, and barring a major change in political reality I would say just build more B-52's with the latest 2045 technology tached on. Not that they'll do that they spend billions of dollars designing a replacement
