I hate this kind of grandstanding. A guy with flowers and a camera crew ambushes some employees - only an idiot would find these childish antics convincing.

No firm would enter the nominations spontaneously, hence the nominees were selected from the nominations that the organisers received after an open nomination period of 6 weeks. From the 40 proposed nominations, the organisers selected for each category those five nominees that best met the criteria for each category.

Worst EU Lobbying: Any individual lobbyist, company or lobby group for employing deceptive, misleading, or otherwise problematic lobbying tactics in Brussels in 2007. Worst EU Greenwash: Any company whose advertising, PR or lobbying in the European Union promotes an environmentally friendly image, while its core business activities actually are damaging the planet.

@Lordworcester Just to clarify: Friends of the Earth did not decide the outcome of the 2007 Worst EU Lobbying Awards, nor did the other organisers. The winners were decided by the over 6,600 persons who voted (all with valid unique e-mailaddresses).

I accept that and i realise that there was a vote but: Who decided on the nominations?

This is pathetic, the people that give out the awards are lobbyists themselves and are therefore biased... It's they who should get the award for misleading the public into thinking they are an authority on the matter. I would have expected better from FOE... shame on them.

Far from being ashamed, the organisers are raising awareness about the deceptive tactics used by lobbyists in Brussels and the bias this creates in EU-decision-making. Greater transparency in lobbying practices (the objective of the Awards) will hopefully put an end to this. I look forward to next year's Awards!
