The girls back then had power but you know when women do that they are called bitches. Too bad I think it was a powerful image to see of a woman who has control of their own careers. The models of today seem like puppets and are told what to do. Why is that when women take control they are bitches but when it is a man it isn't perceived that way.

I don't have any problems with powerful women or a powerful image of a woman. Oprah is my god and Hilary is my role model. But most of the time its the women calling each other bitches. Also I don't agree that the models should have any of power in the fashion industry its not their clothes they are representing. Notice I said models that means it could be a male or female

Fashion models never really had much say in anything from the heyday of the supermodels to the present. Look at the vast majority of the nameless models on this show: apart from a select two or three who are world celebrities, the models were usually servile to designers, agencies, photographers. What you don't understand is that most of the models seem to prefer that power dynamic. What will be a revelation to you is that, it's that type of submissive attitude which makes them attractive.

glamour and fame doesn't equal power. many of these models like to be beautiful and glamourous (what kind of woman wouldn't?) but asking for "power" or "control" is another kettle of fish altogether. the most attractive models don't think on those terms at all - in fact that kind of attitude will probably reflect negatively in their appearance. many just seem to want to marry and have kids, and they do seem to be under the thumb of their agencies/parents/partners etc. it's just how things are.

love Karen Mulder, Trish Goff Valeria Mazza very much with this particular hairstyle...don't really like it on Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer...kind of like it on Kate Moss
