I used to watch this film every christmas eve since i can remember

"Every time they said a movie was bad, i'd go see it, and when they said it was good, i wouldn't". That's really stupid.

why? they've said some of the best movies ever have sucked. they said edward scissorhands sucked, for goodness sakes! it's simply stupidity on their part.

They've also given good movies good reviews. So, doing the opposite of what they say is stupid in my opinion.

I agree. Entertainment such as music and movies are very subjective. Sideways got 5 stars and I thought it was horrible.

I kind of get what they mean about Tim Burton films, though. For a long time he was my favourite director, but once i started to expand my genres and taste, i realised Tim lacked in so many areas. For example, in Edward Scissorhands the movie kind of drags during certain scenes like when he meets with the hair dressor women and near the end of the film ( i will not mention due to the spoilers that would be given, if i did).

Jacks Girlfriend? Not at that point lol

I actually found the storyline very straightforward. I have no problems with this movie and it continues to be one of my favorite films, as well as my favorite musical.
