Considering the engines are up to operational standard, that the RAF BBMF, with it's solid Lancaster operational capability - the additional cost to purchase, fly and maintain such an important Heritage treasure would be a drop in the bucket compared to Britain's overall budget. I would even say that ensuring it's survival is almost a duty of the British government. This Lancaster is a living memorial to the sacrifices that were made by the crews.
and the sacrifice all bomber command made, should never be forgotten, f@@k polictical correctness, these brave lads and all them on ground ops, should never be forgotten, long after the last veteran has passed away
Apparently it would need a new mainspar and complete overhaul in order to fly - would cost upwards of £1 million so its a bit unlikely.
I think it would be a million quid very well spent to get her airworthy again!
not this one
if you type in EAST KIRKBY into the google or yahoo search engine, seel out the east kirkby aviation museum and its where JUST JANE is housed, owned by 2 eccentric farmers but its not allowed to fly unlike the BBMF lancaster
