(contnd from below)It is impossible for one being to live without the death of another, this is the nature of maya even if you think youre somehow free from any responsibility because you dont eat meat if you live in a house, millions of creatures living in the soil before would have died and lost their homes for you if you wear leather shoes an animal has been slaughtered if you eat vegetables there would have been creatures who lost their homes and their lives for you among the roots and soil.

The one thing i cant get my head around is in having compassion for all living things why is it then ok to kill vegetables and plants but not animals? Are animals are more special than plants and you dont need to have compassion for them because they dont make a sound when they're being slaughtered? I dont buy it.

It is the nature of Samsara that one cannot live without causing pain, even death, to our fellow sentient beings. Be mindfull of the millions of worms cut in two by the plows that till earth for your corn. The mice harvested with the grain and the inscects killed by pestisides. Is vegitarianisim better? I never did the math to compute total lives lost, but we must always be mindfull and not proud of our choices. ~Angela (a vegitarian)

true words - but in a modern western economy, all those worms and mice are still killed to produce unnatural feed for meat animals, many times the amount that would be necessary to feed us, and then those animals themselves are killed in large numbers.

though i practice Buddhism i eat meat because if a thing is living then it is life and no life is better or worse than any other life. so if i am a vegetarian i still must kill the plants that i eat in order to get nutrition so then what is the difference from eating meat cause killing is killing, life is life none is better or worse than the other.

bird that is an excuse it is the matter of our bodily disign we must only intake what we need we do not need meat to live in fact meat destroys our body and puts fear into our muscles because of muscle memory that is why Hindus and Buddhists are vegetarian

viewing things with equanimity is important, but you still kill fewer plants by being a vegetarian. many, many times the amount of plant food are required to produce meat food, as animals eat our crops and turn them into waste. there is no compassionate justification for meat eating in the west.

The Dalai Lama is a meatatarian, a deathatarian. He kills baby animals for protein and they plead with him with their eyes. He said so. Just google it. May he receive what he has done to others.

i took a photo of the exact same buddah (it looks the same..) in Hong Kong at 0:53 seconds! :) (been a veggie my whole life too)

wow, amazing video
